University Assistant (post doc) at the Department of Physical Chemistry

The Department of Physical Chemistry, Research Group Material Chemistry, Prof. Alexander Bismarck, Faculty of Chemistry is currently seeking a outstanding scientist (“postdoc”) – Habilitation might be possible – in the field of renewable hierarchical composites made completely from biological sources.

Degree of Employment: 40 hours/week
Occupation group in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc)
On top of this relevant chargeable work experience determines the assessment to a particular salary grade.

Areas of work:
The candidate will participate in all research activities of the group, delivering excellent research on topics in the field of renewable hierarchical composites made completely from biological sources.
Fully biodegradable composites with much improved overall performance, durability and functionality are expected. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate (Master and PhD) students and is expected to hold classes due to the extent regulations of the wage agreement.

Profile:
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Materials, Bioengineering or Materials Science and at least 4 years of research and/or developing experience in the field of bio-based materials and a strong research/technical background in the field of cellulose materials, bioprocess design and natural fibre reinforced polymers.
