Job Description
| Seeking a Ph.D. to support research projects in nano-bio technologies such as: single molecule spectroscopy using nanopores, optical tweezers and/or scanned force microscopy; and space- and time-resolved studies of gene activity in living cells. The successful applicant must have completed a Ph.D. in physics, biophysics, electrical engineering or a related discipline, with a proven capacity for world-class research that is reflected in a publication record. Considerable skill in implementing experiments to probe the interactions between living matter or biomolecules and light, electronics, and/or abiotic micro/nanostructures is required. Experience in a subset of the following areas is mandatory: laser optics and optical tweezers; atomic force/scanning tunneling microscopy; genetic engineering and molecular biology; transmission electron microscopy; MOS-semiconductor processing; low-noise, high frequency electrical measurement techniques including lock-in measurements; and a facility for programming especially in Labview, MATLAB, and Igor.
