A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the Perinatal Centre, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Perinatal brain injury, including brain injury in premature infants, is a major problem in modern society. The current project will focus on the impact of the neonatal immune system on perinatal brain injury. This is a highly innovative and under-explored field and has significant potential to lead to the discovery of new prevention and neuroprotective strategies.

Job assignments

The position requires a qualified and highly motivated person with great energy who is comfortable working independently as the leader of a project as well as working within a team environment. Successful candidates will join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an excellent scientific environment. Teaching opportunities will also be offered to the successful applicant. This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance and continuing availability of funds.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant research area such as neuroscience, molecular biology, or immunology. The candidate is required to have a strong research background and demonstrated ability to successfully complete a project. Excellent skills in written and spoken English are essential. The candidate must have a strong scientific track record as evidenced by published or accepted papers in well recognized peer-reviewed journals. Proven skills in surgical techniques with small animals are meritorious.
