Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) is a multidisciplinary, internationally renowned, strategic marine research centre. PML is recognised as a dynamic, highly innovative, independent and impartial deliverer of scientific research and advice on the marine environment.

PML has an exciting opportunity for six Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to contribute to the development of successful proposals to support the growth of the science areas in PML.
PML’s expertise, knowledge and facilities are used to address key environmental issues, such as global environmental change; sustainable development; and human impacts on marine ecosystems. In addition, PML co-ordinates two long-term observation projects: the Western Channel Observatory (www.westernchannelobservatory.org.uk) and the Atlantic Meridional Transect programme (www.amt-uk.org).
PML has a strong affiliation to the University of Exeter who will award Honorary Research Fellowship status to each of these posts, giving the postholder/s access to facilities and resources of the University. For further information about PML please refer to www.pml.ac.uk
PML’s areas of research for each of these appointments:
- Coastal urbanisation and ecosystem services;
- Atmospheric correction of remote sensing data;
– Ocean-atmosphere interactions in the coastal zone;
– Role of meiofauna in marine ecosystem function;
– Next generation ecosystem models;
- Marine contribution to food security.
Eligibility:
To be successful you must have proven experience in research methods and data analysis and a track record of publication in research, plus excellent scientific writing skills and familiarity with mathematical/statistical concepts appropriate to the chosen science area. You must also have experience of research collaborations and communication in an interdisciplinary environment. You must have a PhD in the relevant area or equivalent working experience.
