Postdoctoral Fellow
University of Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, PA
The Drug Discovery program within the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CNDR) at the University of Pennsylvania is presently seeking a post-doctoral candidate interested in the characterization and development of drug candidates for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The Drug Discovery program at CNDR consists of a multi-disciplinary group of biologists, pharmacologists and chemists working jointly to translate basic research discoveries into drug discovery opportunities. We are presently looking for a post-doctoral candidate with a Ph.D. in cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or neuroscience to play a lead role in an NIH-funded program in which small molecule drug candidates will undergo evaluation for their activity in cellular and transgenic mouse models of neurodegenerative disease. In particular, this program is focused on identifying compounds that act to normalize microtubule function, which appears to be compromised in several neurodegenerative diseases. Qualified candidates will have recently received their Ph.D. degree, with research experience in cell culture, molecular biology, immunodetection methodologies, including ELISA, immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry, and animal models of disease. Preferred applicants will have expertise in microtubule structure and function.University of Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, PA
The CNDR Drug Discovery program provides a vigorous and highly collaborative research environment in which post-doctoral fellows participate in team-based projects, with training in the drug discovery and development process. Moreover, the successful candidate will also participate in and be exposed to other ongoing CNDR activities, including regular seminar series and interactive journal clubs.
