A postdoctoral position is available to join a collaborative research group studying mechanisms of Hedgehog signal transduction in the laboratory of Dr. Stacey K. Ogden at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Hedgehog pathway plays an evolutionarily conserved role in patterning fields of cells during metazoan development, and is inappropriately activated in a range of human tumors. Primary areas of interest in the laboratory include 1) Biogenesis and secretion of Hedgehog ligand; 2) Function of the Hedgehog receptor, Patched; and 3) regulation and signaling of Smoothened, the requisite signaling component of the signal transduction cascade. The successful candidate will join a work group aimed at better understanding Hedgehog pathway activity in both physiological and pathophysiological processes. To approach this aim, the laboratory utilizes a combination of biochemistry, cell biology and genetic model systems analysis.

Applicants should have or expect a PhD degree at time of application. Prior experience with membrane protein biology and/or the Drosophila model system is preferred, but not required.
