Grade 7: £29,249 to £35,938 per annum with a discretionary range to £39,257 per annum.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Genomics to join the Genomic Medicine Theme of the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. This is an exciting translational genomics research programme, which focuses on clinical applications of novel genomics technologies, particularly next generation sequencing, in diverse clinical areas.

You will have responsibility for conducting translational research projects focusing on next generation sequencing platforms and their clinical application, with a particular emphasis on cancer in the first instance. You will undertake a range of applications including de novo sequencing, targeted re-sequencing of disease genes, expression analysis etc. Management of all laboratory aspects of the sequencing projects, including experimental design and execution, and development of all protocols and methods for different research and clinical applications will be required.
You will have strong post-doctoral experience in novel sequencing methodologies and an interest in applying these to human disease. You must have excellent technical laboratory skills and be highly self-motivated individuals with a strong collaborative approach. Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present work at international symposia and to write up papers for publication are a requisite. A PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or equivalent is required.
