Job Description
Yellowstone Ecological Research Center (YERC) in partnership with the University of Montana seeks an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced postdoctoral researcher to coordinate research and grants. The position is located in Bozeman, MT and will consist of three parts: (1) project coordination on multiple research grants and contracts in a lab setting, (2) leading grant writing within a team-setting for continuance of our long-term research goals, and (3) conducting their own research. Individuals who have this experience or the skills/drive/aptitude to be an active research scientist while coordinating and managing projects in an academic lab setting are encouraged to apply. This is an initial 1.3 year funded position with potential to become self-sustaining through grant-writing. Position Requirements
(1) Ph.D. in ecology, environmental sciences, geography, or related field.
(2) Demonstrable track record of high quality research as part of an interdisciplinary team in a lab setting.
Desired Attributes
(1) Experience coordination graduate students and their projects, including interns and employees.
(2) Organized multi-tasking of multiple research projects while maintaining active participation in one or more projects.
(3) Grant writing experience.
Desired Skills/Expertise
(1) GIS and related applications
(2) Remote sensing/image processing
(3) Statistical analysis/modeling
(4) Basic programming (Python, IDL, R)
(5) Management of large datasets
(6) Field data collection and sampling design
(7) Research focus in an environmental area consistent with YERC's research agenda (see www.yellowstoneresearch.org)
