POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN BIOINFORMATICS

A Computational Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biological Chemistry and the UCLA Broad Stem Cell Research Center (BSCRC) to support a Program Project funded by the NIH. The long-term objective of this Program is to determine the fundamental mechanisms underlying the interplay between transcription factors, chromatin structure, and higher-order genomic organization during the conversion to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), the maintenance of pluripotency and specific stages of cell differentiation. The postdoctoral candidate will work closely with the laboratories of Dr. Kathrin Plath (UCLA), Dr. William Lowry (UCLA), Dr. Stephen Smale (UCLA), Dr. Matteo Pellegrini (UCLA), and Dr. Ken Zaret (UPenn), which are collaborating on the Program Project. The successful applicant will obtain advanced training from Dr. Pellegrini in computational biology and bioinformatics while carrying out independent, creative analyses of pluripotency mechanisms using extensive genome-scale data sets obtained by the affiliated laboratories.
We are recruiting a creative and enthusiastic recent PhD graduate, with background in computer sciences or statistics, good communication skills, initiative and independence. Programming languages such as Matlab, R or Python are required.
