Postdoctoral Position: Translational biomarkers of Brain-Gut-Microbiome Axis Dysregulation
Description
The Laboratory of NeuroGastroenterology in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, UCC (http://www.ucc.ie/research/apc/content/research/neurogastroenterology.html) comprises a team of multidisciplinary investigators focused on understanding the basis of brain-gastrointestinal tract interactions, how they are altered by stress and how they contribute to disease processes in an effort to develop novel therapeutic strategies. We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join this dynamic research team and who will work primarily on a project aimed at elucidating translationally relevant biological markers of brain-gut-microbiome axis disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to make an outstanding contribution across both the preclinical and clinical arms of the laboratory and to work towards advancing the ongoing collaborations of the principle investigators. Holding a PhD in a relevant biological science (Pharmacology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology or equivalent), the successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in the area of biomarker discovery and should be proficient across a range of techniques including, but not limited to: ELISA, qRT-PCR, In-situ Hybridisation, microRNA analysis, human genetics, Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry, HPLC, GC-MS. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both in a collaborative environment and with personal initiative are essential. A proven track record of publication in peer reviewed journals is essential.
