THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow in Nicotine Addiction and Affective Neuroscience with experience in ERP/EEG data analyses techniques, multivariate statistics, programming skills (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB) and a background in experimental/cognitive psychology. Successful candidates will work on ERP/EEG studies aimed at investigating the neural correlates of nicotine addiction, nicotine deprivation, smoking cessation and negative affect. Good theoretical and practical knowledge of ERP recording and analysis techniques is essential. Experience with fMRI data analyses is a plus. Fellows will participate fully in the grant writing and publication process. They will share in authorship and investigator status, in a manner commensurate with their effort and responsibilities.
The Department of Behavioral Science, established in 1993, provides an unusually rich opportunity for collegial interaction and an exceptional infrastructure for behavioral research. The psychophysiology laboratory, located in the Behavioral Research and Treatment Center, is equipped with three 129-channel EEG chambers, and state-of-the-art ERP and EEG analyses software. Current active projects use dense-array event-related potentials and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to investigate cognitive and affective brain mechanisms in nicotine addicted individuals. M D Anderson Cancer Center is located within Houston's Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States, with dynamic cultural and recreational resources and an affordable cost of living.
