Herchel Smith Postdoctoral Research Fellowships – Biological Sciences (4 posts)
£27,428 – £35,788 pa
Funding is available for a maximum period of three years
The Managers of the Herchel Smith Postdoctoral Research Fellowships Fund invite applications for four Fellowships to be held in a Department in the School of the Biological Sciences. The field is unrestricted within the broad areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Candidates who wish to work at the interface between the biological and physical sciences, for example in applying mathematical, computational, engineering and systems approaches to solve biological problems are especially encouraged to apply.
All Fellowships are to be held from 1 October 2012 or otherwise by negotiation. Fellowships are available for between two and three years and provide an opportunity for independent research, although the holders will usually work in close collaboration with established research groups.

In accordance with Dr Smith’s will, candidature is limited to candidates who have completed their PhD degree, or equivalent, within the last three years at any university but normally excluding Cambridge and Harvard.
In addition to salary, Fellows receive a research allowance of £10,000 pa.
