A post-doctoral position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Ryan Jensen at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Radiobiology. Research in the lab is centered on DNA repair, DNA damage signaling, and how genomic instability contributes to tumorigenesis. We are particularly interested in the mammalian cellular response to DNA double strand breaks. A current focus of the lab is to investigate the role of the human breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA2) in homologous recombination and to understand the molecular events that lead to tumorigenesis in the absence of BRCA2 function. The proposed research will encompass both biochemical and genetic analyses of BRCA2 and other proteins involved in DNA double strand break repair. Projects include: analyzing tumor associated mutations in the full length BRCA2 protein, genetic screens, examining post-translational modifications and novel protein interactions with BRCA2 after DNA damage, and structure/function studies.
