Applications are invited for a three year ARUK funded research officer position within the Department of Biology and Biochemistry. The project is to investigate the normal cellular activity of the synucleins and their role in metal metabolism. An enthusiastic, dedicated, hard working and imaginative researcher is sought. The successful applicant will have experience with the following techniques, molecular biology such as cloning and PCR, mammalian cell culture, protein expression and purification using FPLC or equivalent, enzymatic assay system, western blot and immunodetection procedures and luciferase based reporter systems. Knowledge of the synuclein field would be an advantage as would a general neuroscience background.
