We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to fill a post-doctoral position in our AVENIR research team at the Neuroscience Institute of Montpellier (INM). Our group is dedicated to deciphering the role of the Ubiquitin Proteasome System in neurodegeneration. To investigate this on a simplified model, we are studying a fatal neurodegenerative disorder mutated in a component of an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Our goal is to identify the pathways controlled by the E3 ligase in neuronal death as well as in the cytoskeleton defects associated with the disease. To complement ongoing mechanistic studies on pathologic primary neurons, the post-doctoral candidate will develop a strategy to identify new substrates of the E3 ligase using Proteomics. By assessing the contribution of these candidate substrates in neuronal death and cytoskeleton collapse, the post-doctoral fellow will not only help understanding the pathophysiology but may also reveal new targets for therapy, another axis developed in the team.

Qualification

The applicant should have strong skills in biochemistry with a background in neurobiology. Additional expertise in molecular and cellular biology will be highly appreciated.
