Job Description
| This postdoctoral position will play an important role in a new European Research Council (ERC) funded project, entitled “Analysis of Biofilm Mediated Fouling of Nanofiltration Membranes”. This is a five year research programme commencing in October 2011 and is based in the UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering. Nanofiltration is a technology that is expected to play a key role in future water treatment processes due to its effectiveness in removal of micropollutants. However, the loss of membrane flux due to fouling is one of the main impediments in the development of membrane processes for use in drinking water treatment. The overall aim of the project is to obtain detailed fundamental insight into the role of biofilm on the fouling of nanofiltration membranes. The post-doc will join a dynamic multi-disciplinary research team located in modern facilities with access to state-of-the art technologies. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. |
