Postdoctoral Research Scientist

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
A postdoctoral research scientist position is available in the group of Heidi Welch to work on a BBSRC-funded project ‘Spatiotemporal Analysis of GPCR-Dependent Rac Signalling in Neutrophils’. The project focuses on GPCR signaling to the small G proteins Rac1 and Rac2 in neutrophils through guanine-nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) of the P-Rex, Vav and DOCK families. It entails the use of a combination of cutting-edge FRET imaging in living primary neutrophils, mouse genetics, cell biology and biochemistry. Planned start date is November 2011.
Applicants must have a PhD in cell biology/biochemistry/pharmacology or related disciplines and have substantial experience in studying intracellular signalling pathways. Experience in live-cell FRET imaging would be highly advantageous. Informal enquiries may be made to Heidi Welch (heidi.welch@babraham.ac.uk).
