A post-doctoral vacancy exists in the Advanced Optical Imaging Group at University College Dublin:

The research project to be undertaken involves the use of an in-house built multiphoton microscope equipped with wavefront control to accurately control and manipulate the focal volume of light in space and time. Biological samples including ocular tissues will be analyzed with the technique in close collaboration with clinical partners. Novel schemes for beam illumination and detection will be explored to gain further insight into sample structure and properties down to the nanoscale with low illumination levels and improved contrast mechanisms.

Mandatory requirements:

• PhD in optical physics, ultrafast lasers, microscopy, adaptive optics  or optical engineering

• Demonstrated commitment to research and publications

In addition, it is highly desirable if you have :

• Experience in optics and biophotonics, nano-imaging, multiphoton techniques, biological sample preparation, vision

• Experience in setting own research agenda

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
