Danbury Hospital, a not-for-profit regional medical center and university teaching hospital and an affiliate of Western Connecticut Health Network, is proud to announce that we Danbury Hospital has established a biomedical research center with a team of renowned physician scientists known for their groundbreaking work in the fields of cancer and proteomics.
The Danbury Hospital Biomedical Research Center is a 17,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art laboratory that will initially focus on women’s reproductive cancers with the goal of bringing research findings to patients in clinical settings as soon as possible. The venture brings together two internationally recognized physician scientists— Dr. Shohreh Shahabi, Obstetrics and Gynecology Chair , and Dr. Cristiano Ferlini, Director of Biomedical Research—to work at the center’s Reproductive Tumor Biology Research Laboratory.
A postdoctoral position is available for highly motivated scientists to investigate the role of cytoskeleton-mediated cell signaling, drug resistance and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Our research focuses on translational and preclinical studies on human cancers using approaches including proteomics and oncogenomics. These studies are aimed at developing novel biomarkers and molecularly-targeted therapeutic strategies to treat human cancers.
Candidates holding a doctoral-level degree with a solid background in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, genetics and signal transduction are preferred. Experience with translational studies of biomarkers in the field of cancer research is desirable.
