Candidates should already have a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related discipline, ideally with a strong research record in theoretical or computational chemistry/physics, and an expertise of modelling either solid-state or molecular systems. Good experience in scientific code development is essential.
The position is funded by EPSRC under the HPC Software Development Call, for two years initially, starting on 1st October 2011. The successful candidate will be based in UCL, but the work programme will also require visits to STFC Daresbury Laboratory, Cardiff and Bath Universities.
The post is on the UCL Grade 7 salary scale: £31,905 to £38,594 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance of £2,806 pa); the starting salary will be no higher than £34,604 (point 32).
