Role of ubiquitin-like modifications in inflammation-driven and sporadic cancer
Description
Description A post-doctoral position is available in the Nuclear Organisation and Oncogenesis Unit at the Pasteur Institute to work on the role of the SUMO pathway in human tumor development. The post-translational modification by SUMO is emerging as an essential regulatory mechanism of protein function which is involved in most challenges faced by eukaryotic cells, including genome integrity, cell proliferation and gene expression. Dysregulation of this pathway is thus expected to play a key role in oncogenesis. The project aims at defining the role of sumoylation-mediated gene control in stress response and to analyze the impact of deregulation of this pathway in inflammation and cancer with a primary focus on the intestinal tract. Biochemistry, cellular and mouse models will be used to study the patho-physiological processes associated with sumoylation. Diploma and skills of the candidate Candidates will have a PhD with proven research skills in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and/or animal models. Prior experience in chromatin biology would be a plus but is not required. Employment The appointment is for three years, with the possibilty of extension. The starting date will be decided in agreement with the selected candidate.
