A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is currently available in the laboratory of Chris Armishaw, Ph.D., Assistant Member. The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and conducting series of high throughput cell based functional and radio-receptor binding assays to study the molecular mechanisms of chronic neuropathic pain, depression and drug addiction.
Specifically, the candidate will be expected to conduct research though the:
i) Development of new high throughput cell based function and radio-receptor binding assays targeting various pharmacological targets, including ion channels, receptors and transporters;
ii) High-throughput screening of synthetic combinatorial libraries and;
iii) Pharmacological evaluation of lead compounds.
Recent Ph.D. graduates in a pharmacology / neuroscience related field, with less than three years of previous post-doctoral experience and a strong publication track record will be preferred. Proficiency in tissue culture, molecular biology, as well as functional / radio-receptor binding assays is required. Experience in electrophysiology would also be an advantage. The successful applicant will be required to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary team comprised of synthetic and computational chemists, biochemists and pharmacologists. The successful applicant must be self-motivated; organized; possess excellent communication skills; and be a committed and responsible team player.
