Description

The Department of Bioorganic Chemistry (Prof. Wessjohann) has several openings for postdoctoral fellows. The latter requires the completion of a European master or an equivalent degree of an institution accepted by the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, and fluency in English or German. Some positions are within projects funded by the EU (Bionexgen), the BMBF or industry. Postdoctoral fellow positions: No. 10.1 Expert in protein expression and purification. You have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biotechnology, or bioengineering, or have otherwise gained several years of experience in heterologous expression and purification of proteins from plants, bacteria or fungi, ideally on a preparative scale. The standard host will be E. coli, but other bacterial or fungal hosts may be required. No. 10.2 (EU) Application of oxidizing enzymes (P450, Peroxidases, Hydroxylases). We seek a biotechnologist, chemist or biochemist to study the regioselective hydroxylation of aromatic compounds by enzymes or cell based systems. The work will include the selection of suitable enzymes or strains and their application in lab scaIe semipreparative organic synthesis. Most likely P450 enzymes will show the desired properties, but more stable oxidases are preferred if they allow regio- and chemoselective reactions. Ideally you will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent expertise) and the ability or experience to head a small research project within an international project that also includes industrial partners.
