Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bin Wang in the Department of Genetics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at Houston. The goal of our research is to understand how cells respond to DNA damage and safeguard the integrity of the genome. We are currently investigating several key players in the DNA damage response pathway (Wang et al., 2009, Genes Dev. 23, 729-739; Wang et al., 2007 Sceince, 316, 1194-8; Wang and Elledge, 2007, PNAS, 104(52), 20759-63). Our goal is to use various biochemical and genetic approaches, such as gene knockouts, mass spectrometry, and genetic screens using siRNA libraries, to identify important players in the DNA damage response and define the roles of these proteins in maintaining genomic stability and tumor suppression.
Highly motivated candidates with a recent Ph.D. degree in biomedical science and strong interests in DNA damage response and cancer cell biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have strong laboratory skills in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry. Qualified candidates are expected to work independently and as part of a team, with good written and oral communication skills.
