The Center for MicroBioRobotics@SSSA of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia opened a call for 1 Junior or Senior (2 years experience after PhD or equivalent experience) Post Doctoral Position. The ideal candidate has expertise in one or more of the following areas: organic chemistry, electrochemistry, biochemistry, and/or analytical chemistry. Previous experiences about reaction mechanisms and kinetics are also beneficial. He/she will work in a microengineering context in close collaboration with engineers/physicians/biologists developing new sensors, actuators and microrobots. Specific developments will be: ionic solutions for osmotic type of actuation; soft, self-propelling structures and oscillating hydrogels; mono- and multi-layer bio-inspired membranes. Application deadline is April 30, 2011. The position is available from May, 2011 for 12 months with a contract renewable on the basis of performance. Salary and benefits are highly competitive for international standards.
